Case study: community education coordinator
Purpose of the role
The community education coordinator leads a small team to create community education projects, programs, events and resources that can be used to raise awareness and build the skills and knowledge that lead to behavioural change within large and small communities.
Core responsibilities
- Design, management and evaluation of community education programs.
- Facilitate events and education programs.
- Manage community engagement processes.
- Develop project resources and materials.
- Pursue sponsorship and grant opportunities and support fundraising campaigns.
Skills and knowledge required
- Attained, or attaining, a tertiary qualification in education, sustainability, natural resource management or other relevant discipline.
- Commitment to and knowledge of conservation issues.
- Written and oral communication skills.
- Writing submissions and grant applications, sourcing and developing sponsorship opportunities.
- Knowledge and experience of community education.
