Purpose of the role

The community engagement coordinator works with local councils, sustainability educators, expert facilitators and other stakeholders to facilitate informed community participation in sustainability programs and projects.

Core responsibilities

  • Deliver and evaluate community engagement projects.
  • Prepare project resources and materials.
  • Manage partnerships and source funding.
  • Organise training programs, large and small scale events.
  • Liaise with various community groups, schools and government departments.

Skills and knowledge

  • Qualifications in a relevant tertiary discipline, or studying towards a tertiary qualification.
  • Project and event management.
  • Developing and implementing effective communication and promotion strategies, including stakeholder engagement.
  • Oral and written communication skills with the ability to research and prepare technical, promotional and educational material.
  • Knowledge of general and local environmental issues.
