Case study: executive director
Purpose of the role
The executive director leads the organisation to achieve its vision. The director is ultimately responsible for all areas of the organisation's performance and sustainability.
Core responsibilities
- Manage/oversee day-to-day business operations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the board and key stakeholders to generate income and drive change.
- Represent the organisation in media and public forums to advocate on behalf of the organisation.
- Ensure proactive management of corporate governance.
- Advice and inform the Board on all matters relating to governance, human resources, performance and risk.
Skills and knowledge required
- Tertiary qualifications (preferably postgraduate) in science, environment and/or management.
- Organisational leadership.
- Strategic planning.
- Business development.
- Strong knowledge of public policy development and corporate governance.
